Mission

In collaboration with the association's committee, the volunteer finance manager is responsible for ensuring the association's financial management, guaranteeing compliance with accounting and legal standards, and contributing to fundraising to support the association's projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Main tasks

  • Accounting management:

    • Ensure the association's accounting is maintained in accordance with Swiss accounting standards.

    • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and periodic financial statements.

    • Monitor the association's expenses and revenues.

  • Budgeting:

    • Develop the association's annual and multi-year budgets.

    • Monitor budget execution and implement corrective measures as necessary.

  • Fundraising:

    • Identify new funding sources (foundations, corporations, individuals).

    • Write grant proposals and financial reports.

    • Participate in the organization of fundraising events.

  • Internal control:

    • Establish internal control procedures to ensure the reliability of financial information.

    • Ensure compliance with the association's financial management rules.

Desired profile

  • Education: Degree in finance, accounting, or management.

  • Experience: Professional experience in accounting or financial management, ideally in the non-profit sector.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Excel, specific software).

  • Knowledge of Swiss accounting standards (Swiss GAAP RPC).

  • Financial analysis and synthesis skills.

  • Strong organizational and rigorous approach.

  • Proficiency in French or German, and English.

Personal qualities

Discretion, autonomy, sense of responsibility.

Interest in financial and solidarity-based issues.

Terms

  • Contract: Volunteer (possibility of a volunteer certificate).

  • Duration: 1 year, renewable.

  • Estimated time commitment: Approximately 2 hours per week.

  • Workplace: Primarily remote, with the possibility of regular in-person meetings and potential travel to Congo.

Future additional tasks

  • Implement a rigorous internal control system to prevent risks of fraud and errors.

  • Train board members on financial matters.

  • Establish regular financial reporting for the statutory auditor.

  • Collaborate with an accountant appointed by the association to ensure legal compliance.

Recruitment process

This onboarding period will allow you to discover our tools and working methods for a successful integration into Avenir Congo's projects and to meet the various team members.
